1. Who we are

This policy explains what information the game handles, why, and what choices you have. It applies to Jack the Incremental Splitter as sold on Steam for computers. The Android game has its own policy at https://daviddinch.github.io/slumlake/jack/privacy.html.
2. The short version
- The game has no accounts of its own and no sign-in. You play without giving us any personal information.
- Your progress is saved on your computer. If Steam Cloud is on, Steam also keeps a copy for you. We never receive it.
- The game shows no ads and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking software.
- We do not collect, sell or share your information.
- The game is bought once, through Steam. Nothing is sold inside the game. We never see or store your card or payment details.
3. What the game handles
3.1 Your progress
Your game (gold, rank, upgrades, collections and achievements earned) is saved in files on your computer, in the game's own folder in your user profile. Your settings (sound, full screen) are saved there too. None of this is sent to us.
3.2 Steam Cloud
If Steam Cloud is switched on for the game, Steam copies your save files to Valve's servers and brings them down on your other computers, so that you can carry on where you left off. Valve runs that service under its own privacy policy; we have no access to the files it holds. You can switch Steam Cloud off for the game in the Steam client at any time. Your settings are not copied.
3.3 Achievements
When you earn an achievement, the game tells the Steam client on your computer, and Steam records it against your Steam account and shows it according to your Steam profile's privacy settings. The game does not send this to us.
3.4 Save codes
The menu can turn your game into a save code, a line of text you copy and keep yourself, and can load a code you paste back in. This happens entirely on your computer. A code goes only where you choose to paste it; we never receive it. It contains your progress in the game and nothing about you.
3.5 What we do not collect
- No name, email address or account of any kind.
- No Steam ID, friends list or profile details: the game does not read them.
- No advertising identifier.
- No location, contacts, files, microphone or camera access.
- No analytics, crash reports or behavior tracking of our own.
The game makes no internet connections of its own. Everything that goes over the internet goes through the Steam client, which may process technical information that is needed to deliver its service, such as IP address and device type, under Valve's privacy policy.
4. Who we share it with
We have no personal information about you to share. The only service the game uses is:
| Provider | What for | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Steam (Valve Corporation) | Selling and delivering the game, Steam Cloud saves, achievements | https://store.steampowered.com/privacy_agreement/ |
Valve gives us sales and usage figures for the game as totals (for example, how many copies were sold in a country). These do not identify you.
We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
5. How long it is kept
Your progress stays on your computer until you delete it. Copies in Steam Cloud, your achievements and the record of your purchase are kept by Valve under its own policy.
6. Deleting your data
There is no account with us to delete.
- To start again inside the game, use Menu, then "Start from scratch".
- To remove everything the game has stored on a Windows computer, delete the folder "Jack the Incremental Splitter" in your AppData\Roaming folder after uninstalling.
- To stop Steam keeping a copy, switch Steam Cloud off for the game in the Steam client before deleting the folder. Valve's support pages explain how to remove files already held in Steam Cloud.
- A save code you copied stays wherever you pasted it until you delete it there.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to complain to your local privacy regulator. In Australia that is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Because the game does not send us any information about you, there is nothing for us to provide or delete. For information Valve holds about your Steam account, contact Valve. For any question about the game, contact daviddinch@gmail.com
8. Children
Jack the Incremental Splitter is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or from anyone else.
9. Security
Your progress is stored in ordinary files in your own user profile on your computer. Anyone who can use your account on that computer can read or change them. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information on a computer will never be lost or accessed without permission.
10. Changes to this policy
When the game changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy, change the date at the top, and tell you in the game before the change takes effect where the law requires it.
