Terms of Use and End User License Agreement
Jack the Incremental Splitter (Steam edition)
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Please read this before you play. By buying, installing or playing Jack the Incremental Splitter on Steam you agree to it. If you do not agree, do not install or play the game.
1. Who this agreement is with
This agreement is between you and Ali Dinch, an individual in New South Wales, Australia, who publishes games under the name sLumLake simuLations ("we", "us"). It is not an agreement with Valve Corporation. Valve is not responsible for the game or its content.
Your use of Steam is also covered by the Steam Subscriber Agreement. If that agreement and this one conflict about how Steam works, including payment and refunds, the Steam Subscriber Agreement applies to that point.
2. Your license
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license, which we can withdraw as set out in section 11, to install and play Jack the Incremental Splitter through your Steam account on computers you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment.
The game is licensed to you, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights in the game, including its code, art, text, sound and its name and logo.
3. What you must not do
You must not:
- copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the game or any part of it;
- modify, decompile or reverse engineer the game, except where the law gives you a right to that cannot be excluded;
- use the game to break the law or to harm anyone.
Your save files are yours. Editing them is at your own risk: we cannot help with a game that no longer loads, and achievements earned that way are a matter between you and Steam.
4. Age
You must be 13 or older to play. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read and agree to this agreement for you.
5. Price, purchases and refunds
The game is bought once, through Steam. That price includes everything in the game. There are no in-game purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising.
Payment is taken by Valve, not by us. Refunds are requested from Steam and are handled under Steam's refund policy. Nothing in this section limits your rights under section 9.
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy at https://daviddinch.github.io/slumlake/jack/steam-privacy.html
6. Videos and streams
You may record, stream and post videos and screenshots of the game, including the music as it plays in the game, and you may earn money from them through the usual means of the platform you post on (advertising, subscriptions, donations). You must not sell the footage as a product in itself, present the game as your own work, or post the music on its own. Please do not register the game's music with any content-identification system: it is licensed to us, not to you.
7. A work of fiction
Jack the Incremental Splitter is a work of fiction. Every person, company, boss and place in it is fictitious, and any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or to real organizations is coincidental and not intended. Real planets and moons appear only as settings.
8. Updates, changes and availability
We may update the game, change its features or balance, or stop selling it. If we stop selling it, the copy in your Steam library remains yours to play for as long as Steam makes it available to you.
9. Your consumer rights
Nothing in this agreement excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law and equivalent laws where you live.
10. Disclaimers and limits
Subject to section 9:
- the game is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be free of errors or interruptions, or that it will work on every computer;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or saves, except where we caused it by failing to take reasonable care;
- our total liability to you in connection with the game is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the game, or AU$50.
Nothing in this agreement limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
11. Ending this agreement
You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the game.
If you seriously or repeatedly break section 3, your license ends. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why first and give you a chance to respond.
When this agreement ends, your license ends and you must stop using the game. Sections 2 (ownership), 7, 9, 10 and 13 continue to apply.
12. Changes to this agreement
We may update this agreement, for example when new features are added. The current version is always at https://daviddinch.github.io/slumlake/jack/steam-terms.html with the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the game or on its Steam page. If you do not agree to a change, you can stop playing and your consumer rights in section 9 are not affected.
13. General
- Governing law. This agreement is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and may bring a claim in your local courts.
- Whole agreement. This agreement and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the game.
- If part is invalid. If a court finds part of this agreement invalid, the rest still applies.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
14. Music, sound and software credits
- Music. The music in the game is from Fesliyan Studios (https://www.FesliyanStudios.com), by David Fesliyan and Alex Zachariou, and is used under a commercial music license held by Ali Dinch for sLumLake simuLations. Each tune is listed in the game's credits.
